Lakota Blue is perhaps Frank's most powerful image. This acrylic on canvas is the original painting that has since been released in limited edition serigraphs through the Frank Howell Gallery in Sante Fe.

Frank Howell is best-known for his intricately-detailed renderings of elderly American Indians whom he viewed as universal symbols, a kind of visual mythology. In one of his interviews with Santa Fean Magazine in 1989 Frank was quoted to say " My figures are androgenous, neither male or female, Indian or Anglo. To me, they are spiritual expressions and actually have more to do with mythology than American Indian culture."

The gallery has valued this important Frank Howell piece at $80,000. We are now accepting offers.
